Koren Specific Technique (KST)
Koren Specific Technique (KST) is a modern chiropractic method developed by Dr. Tedd Koren in the early 2000s. It is considered a gentle, non-invasive, and highly adaptable approach to chiropractic care that differs from traditional manual adjustments.
Process:
- Practitioners use a process called the Occipital Drop (checking for subtle changes in muscle tone and reflexes at the back of the skull) to detect areas of stress, interference, or imbalance in the body. This allows the chiropractor to identify misalignments, tension patterns, or stress stored in the nervous system.
- Instead of traditional twisting or high-force manipulations, KST uses a handheld instrument. The device delivers light, rapid pulses to specific areas (spine, cranial bones, muscles, even extremities) to release tension and restore proper function.
- KST can be done with the patient standing, sitting, or lying down. It allows for checking and adjusting not only the spine, but also soft tissues, cranial bones, and even emotional/energetic patterns that may be affecting posture and nervous system function.
Benefits:
- Gentle and comfortable: No cracking, twisting, or popping is required.
- Personalized: Each adjustment is tailored to the patient’s unique stress patterns.
- Holistic: Looks beyond just spinal alignment—can address posture, organ stress, and stored trauma.
- Versatile: Works for people of all ages, including children, seniors, and those who may not tolerate traditional adjustments.
